Amazon to Acquire Whole Foods Market

Amazon and Whole Foods Market have entered a definitive merger agreement where Amazon will acquire Whole Foods Market to the tune of $13.7 billion. The price includes Whole Foods Market’s net debt. The transaction is expected to close during the second half of 2017.

        Following the acquisition, Whole Foods Market will continue operating stores under the Whole Foods Market brand. John Mackey, co-founder and CEO of Whole Foods Market, will keep his position as CEO.
