Petmate acquires JW Pet and Canine Hardware

Petmate has acquired pet toy manufacturers JW Pet Company and Canine Hardware.

The acquisition will incorporate the JW Pet and Canine Hardware brands into Petmate’s line up of pet products, including JW Hol-ee Roller Toys and Canine Hardware’s Chuckit! line of fetch games.

Jon Willinger founded New Jersey based-JW Pet in 1998 as a manufacturer of grooming supplies, toys and feeders for dog, cat, bird, fish and small animals. Willinger will join Petmate as the company’s vice president of toys and accessories.

Seattle-based Canine Hardware burst onto the scene 13 years ago with its Chuckit! ball launcher. Led by President Mark Oblack, the company has expanded and offers a complete line of fetch games.

This marks Petmate’s fourth and fifth acquisitions. The company acquired Munchkin Inc.’s Fat Cat and Bamboo lines, Kennel-Aire and WetNoz Inc.
