Target Appoints Dament to lead repositioning

Target officials named Anne Dament to the role of SVP Merchandising. Dament will be responsible for steering Target’s strategic repositioning of its food business.

       Dament formerly served as GVP Perishable Strategy for Safeway. While working for Safeway, Dament was tasked with expanding assortments and focusing on meal solutions and grab and go options. While working for Safeway, Dament oversaw homecare and general merchandise and worked with CPG companies to improve the chain’s global buying strategy. She also worked for PetSmart as VP of Services.

       Target representatives announced earlier this year the company’s plans to reposition its approach to food during the next 12 to 18 months by focusing on half a dozen categories; better for you snacks, coffee and tea, premium sauces and oils, specialty candy, wine and craft beer and yogurt and granola. There will also be a push for a wider variety of natural, organic, locally grown and gluten-free options.
