Atomic Robot Creates Grocery App UI Kit to Aid Grocers Through the Pandemic

Atomic Robot, a digital app agency that focuses on crafting engaging mobile app experiences for iOS and Android, has created a fully customizable grocery app user interface kit that offers four major features of grocery mobile applications: weekly ads, shopping lists, a store locator and recipes.

“The Covid-19 pandemic expedited the need for a digital-first approach to grocery shopping,” said Alex Robinson, CEO of Atomic Robot. “Customers wanted a way to shop from home and safely pick up or receive their goods. The grocery stores that already had a mobile app in place and the framework for contactless pickup and delivery were able to rise to the occasion, while grocers who did not have a digital presence pre-pandemic continue to be at risk to succumb to the competition.”

The grocery app UI kit aims to help grocers that lack an existing mobile app get started with the basics. It provides them with a foundation for the main features and visuals they can use to gather support from stakeholders and customers.

“Grocers must innovate their mobile apps to improve the user experience for their customers through the pandemic and beyond,” said Leah Blandford, UX/UI designer at Atomic Robot. “A digital product can be a helpful utility, but the real magic comes from understanding and addressing users’ feelings and ultimate goals through the product. Appealing to users personally helps build confidence, trust and loyalty to a product or brand.”

The Atomic Robot team believes the demand for direct-ship convenience, curbside pickup and contactless fulfillment for groceries is not likely to slow down in a post-Covid-19 world. As a result, grocers must continue to reinvent their supply chains to prioritize the customer experience.

“The demand for convenience at grocery retailers will continue to impact the supply chain and fulfillment, store formats, associate safety and training, and the technology that enables all of the above in a post-Covid-19 world,” Robinson said. “Ultimately, grocers should focus on improving safety procedures, reducing front-end costs through customer self-service and building a more resilient supply chain that benefits grocers and their customers.”
