Nicholas Bertram Leaving Post as The Giant Company CEO Next Week

Industry media is reporting that Nicholas Bertram, President of The Giant Company, is leaving his post at the end of August.

Grocery Dive reports that Bertram headed several omnichannel initiatives including launching an automated e-commerce fulfillment center, in his tenure as company president.

Kevin Holt, CEO of parent company Ahold Delhaize USA said in a release, “We have been fortunate to have Nick lead The Giant Company during his nine-year tenure. His leadership has inspired very strong performance by the team. The Giant Company has achieved a great deal of success, with growth in its local markets, innovation in operations and a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as health and sustainability. We remain confident in the continued momentum of the brand and wish Nick all the best in the future.”

According to Supermarket News, John Ruane, Senior VP, Chief Merchant and Chief Commercial Officer, will serve as interim president until Bertram’s successor is named.

Among his other qualifications, The Packer reports that Ruane is chair of FMI’s Fresh Food Leadership Committee and serves on the Board of Directors at Philabunance, a hunger-relief organization serving the Philadelphia area.
