Roger Harkrider is Meijer’s new Director of Produce
After putting in 30 years of service at the San Antonio-based H-E-B Grocery, industry veteran Roger Harkrider has made a move to Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Meijer where he will assume the role of Director of Produce.
His responsibilities in the new role will include creating and driving a vision and strategic direction for the business and mobilizing change within the business unit across the organization.
According to Bloomberg, Harkrider has served as Director of the board of United Fresh Produce Association since 2010. He has also served as the group’s member relations task force.
Harkrider’s appointment comes at a time when the grocery retailer is making a foray into smaller-format, urban grocery store format to offer urban customers a curated set of products and services to give them a different shopping experience.
