505 Southwestern Introduces 505 Fresh Line of Guacamole, Fresh Salsa and Dips

505 Southwestern, the world’s largest flame-roaster of Hatch Valley green chile peppers and a leading retail brand in the industry, is planning to launch a new lineup of fresh dips featuring the company’s green chile. The 505 Fresh® lineup includes extra-chunky guacamole, fresh salsa and fresh queso dips. The launch builds upon the company’s recent acquisition of Yucatan Foods and its 97,000-square-foot fresh dip manufacturing and high-pressure pasteurization (HPP) facility in Silao, Mexico, together with the expansion of the company’s 80,000-square-foot flame-roasting facility in the Hatch Valley region of New Mexico.

“For 25 years, 505 Southwestern has been known across the country for its famous, flame-roasted green chile peppers, sauces and salsa. We flame-roast more than 20 million pounds of Hatch Valley green chile every year, and now we’re using that special ingredient to make fresh salsa and guacamole that are as addictive as they are unique,” said Rob Holland, Executive Chairman of Flagship.

The 505 Fresh line features fresh ingredients, including real avocados which gives the guacamole an extra chunky texture. Utilizing the innovative HPP manufacturing process, the shelf life of the product is lengthened, and the texture and taste are improved. Each container is hand-scooped in their own facility in Mexico and shipped fresh from the field. Like all 505 Southwestern products each of the products in this new line are made with famous 505 Southwestern flame-roasted Hatch Valley green chile peppers and are available in three heat levels (mild, medium, hot).

505 Southwestern Brand President Sam Carson said, “Our fans know that green chile really does make everything taste better, and this is simply a natural extension of our brands, R&D capabilities and manufacturing expertise. We expect to have product in distribution in the coming months.”

Flagship operates two flame-roasting facilities in the Hatch Valley region of New Mexico and is also the leading distributor of fresh Hatch Valley green chile peppers to retail during the harvest season.

“Flagship is synonymous with Hatch Valley,” said Chris Franzoy, a fourth-generation farmer in Hatch and President of Young Guns, a division of Flagship. “With the recent acquisition of Yucatan and the facility that we now operate in Mexico, a Hatch Valley guacamole and dip line is a perfect way to offer a new and exciting lineup for our customers.”

505 Southwestern is the largest brand of jarred, flame-roasted green chile in the US. It is the official green chile of the Denver Broncos, the Colorado Rockies, Arizona State University and PRCA Pro Rodeo. 505SW also offers green chile-enhanced cooking sauces, salsa and tortilla chips, among other products.

Earlier this year, 505 Southwestern’s parent company Flagship Food Group acquired Yucatan Foods and its Yucatan and Cabo Fresh brands. Through the acquisition, Flagship added another best-in-class manufacturing facility to its expansive family of SQF food manufacturing facilities across the world.

“This is going to be a year of enormous innovation for our company,” said Holland. “We’re really excited to bring some fun, healthy and flavorful products to our customers.”
