As a retail leader with more than 27 years of career growth at Dollar General, Emily Taylor, who has served as the Company’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer since 2020, was recently recognized for her achievements as a trailblazer in the retail space. In April, Emily was honored by Mass Market Retailers (MMR) as 2025 Merchant of the Year and in June, named to the Chain Store Age Retail’s Top Women list in the corporate leadership category.

Emily leads DG’s merchandising, marketing, inventory management, global sourcing, digital, customer insights, channel innovation and in-store experience efforts at more than 20,000 DG stores across 48 states. With a deep understanding of the crucial role Dollar General plays in the lives of customers who rely on the retailer for convenient access to affordable essentials, Emily’s leadership drives innovative work to capture growth opportunities while ensuring DG delivers an enhanced shopping experience.

Recent accomplishments by Emily and team include the launch of a ‘food first’ initiative to drive a more meaningful selection of affordable food options, including fresh produce expansion; a refreshed approach to non-consumables including new celebrity product lines; the launch of the e.l.f. cosmetics brand at DG; enhanced innovative capabilities from DG Media Network to drive brand awareness, engagement and sales; and the elimination of  approximately 1,000 SKUs and an inventory reduction to simplify the in-store experience for DG associates and customers. Through these efforts, Emily drives forward DG’s ongoing commitment to put customers at the center of all they do.
