Dollar General’s Jenny O’Neill Recognized by Drug Store News

Jenny O’Neill, vice president and division merchandise manager at Dollar General, was recently named one of the 2025 Top Women in Health, Wellness and Beauty in the Business Excellence category, presented by Drug Store News. Honorees were selected for demonstrating achievement, growth and success in the health, wellness and beauty industry.

Since joining DG in 2009, Jenny has progressed from hands-on product selection roles to managing and overseeing the full scope of specific product categories. Prior to her current VP role, Jenny served as senior buyer of health products at DG – to include during the global COVID-19 pandemic. As an essential retailer, millions of Americans rely on DG stores for convenient access. With approximately 75 percent of the US population living within five miles of a DG store, the Company recognizes that many customers, especially in rural areas, lack convenient access to health care like medical facilities, doctors and prescription medications. Jenny and team developed and oversaw DG Wellbeing, a healthcare expansion initiative seeking to decrease critical gaps in health access.

Through DG Wellbeing, DG expanded offerings in every health category including dental, cough, cold, pain, nutrition, adult incontinence and feminine care. Jenny and team debuted a wider selection of over-the-counter medicines at more affordable price points, helping customers stretch their budgets. She also spearheaded the development of DG’s OhGood! private brand, a range of affordable, fun and nutritional supplements. Jenny and team, in an effort to further educate on and normalize feminine care and adult incontinence, rebranded and refreshed packaging and marketing of DG’s private brands, Breeze and Composure.

By putting customers and communities first, Jenny’s efforts continue to significantly improve access to key health products. While the health category is no longer Jenny’s primary focus at DG, the impact of her and her team’s efforts still resonates.

Drug Store News will celebrate the 2025 winners in its November issue and at the seventh annual awards event Nov.11-12 in Chicago.
