Produce Tag Producer Moves to Making Face Mask Shields
Bedford Industries, better known for its twist ties, food preservation offerings and produce tags, has adjusted production to now create face shields during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to media reports, the company is making thousands of its trademarked ElastiShields each week and distributing them across the country to help medical personnel prolong the use of their scarce supplies of N95 masks.
Based in Worthington, MN, Bedford’s engineers worked quickly to adapt their existing technologies to aid in the medical crisis and took advantage of existing partnerships with manufacturers and health industry connections to expedite FDA approval for the ElastiShield. The local CBS affiliate reported Bedford can produce up to 50,000 shields a day — double that, if necessary.
