Ahold Names President and General Manager of Peapod

Ahold appointed Jennifer Carr-Smith to the role of president and general manager of Peapod, effective June 15. Carr-Smith will replace Andrew Parkinson, who was appointed to a newly established advisory role within the company.

Carr-Smith previously worked as chief operating officer of J.Crew’s online business. She was credited for leading J.Crew’s transformation to a digital retailer with strong e-commerce capabilities. Prior to J.Crew, Carr-Smith served as chief operating officer for Giggle, an omni-channel retailer specializing in baby gear; chief operating officer for Gilt Groupe, an online shopping company and held leadership roles for Polo Ralph Lauren and Drugstore.com. She attended Harvard and Brown University.

Parkinson will work as an advisor to Carr-Smith while simultaneously looking for new business development opportunities for Peapod. He is the co-founder of Peapod and led the expansion of the company’s online grocery delivery service, “Pick-Up Points.”
