Albertson’s & Safeway Leaders Announce Structure of Combined Companies
Albertson’s and Safeway’s leaders announced how the combined company will be structured and the new leadership team, once the merger between the companies has been finalized.
The joined company will have 13 divisions, including Albertson’s banners Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s and Acme. The new divisions and their presidents include: Denver, Paul McTavis; Eastern, Steve Burnham; Houston, Sidney Hopper; Intermountain, Susan Morris; Northern California, Tom Schwilke; Portland, Dennis Bassler; Seattle, Dan Valenzuela; Southern, Scott Hays; Southern California, Lori Raya and Southwest, Shane Dorcheus. Some of the division, including Houston and Seattle, are still determining who will fill various merchandising roles, including pet.
Once the merger is finalized, the new marketing and merchandising division will be led by evp Shane Sampson. Dimitri Haloulos, svp of own brands and Karl Schroeder, svp of corporate merchandising, will support Samspon. Sampson will oversee six group vice presidents overseeing the meat & seafood, produce & floral, general merchandise, deli & prepared foods, bakery, grocery, alcohol, pharmacy and health & wellness categories.
