Albertsons makes leadership changeup; announces new President & COO
Wayne Denningham has been named Albertsons’ new President and COO. Denningham previously held the position of Albertsons’ evp and COO. He will succeed Bob Miller, who will stay on as chairman and CEO.
Denningham assumed his current role as evp and COO in 2015. He initially joined the company in 1977 as a clerk.
During his tenure with Albertsons, Denningham has held positions as a district manager, division president of the Rocky Mountain, Southern and Florida divisions and regional president overseeing five divisions. He advanced to evp of marketing and merchandising and evp of operations. In 2013, Denningham was named division president of the Southern California division, on the heels of Albertsons acquiring 877 Supervalu stores. Two years later, in 2015, he became South Region Chief Operating Officer, following Albertsons’ merger with Safeway.
