CDC Issues Salad Kit Safety Alert

The CDC this week issued a food safety alert for consumers of Fresh Express Sunflower Crisp Chopped Salad Kits. The kits are said to have possible E. coli contamination that has sickened eight people in three states. No deaths have been reported.

The kits have the identifying information UPC 0 71279 30906 4, beginning with lot code Z, and a best-before date up to and including 07DEC19. This information is printed on the front of the bag in the top right corner.

It remains unclear whether this product is linked with a romaine lettuce contamination which was reported a few weeks earlier.
