Cohen Reclaims Control Following Verdi’s Departure
Less than one year after his appointment as president of C&S Wholesale Grocers, Mark Verdi is stepping down from his role. Rick Cohen, C&S’s CEO and chairman, announced he will resume leadership of day-to-day control of the company.
Verdi, a seasoned global finance and operations executive, joined C&S 10 months ago. During his tenure with C&S, Verdi led acquisitions of both Associated Wholesalers and Grocers Supply.
Industry experts speculate Verdi is leaving the company due to the company’s failure to retain some of the retailers which were included in the wholesale acquisitions. Other experts wonder if Verdi’s limited food industry experience caused him to become overwhelmed, spurring him to leave the company.
