Daring Foods Raises $65M Series C and Launches in Walmart

Plant-based chicken brand Daring Foods announces a $65M Series C and a retail expansion into 3,000 Walmart stores nationally. The fundraising round was led by Founders Fund and joined by existing investor D1 Capital Group, alongside notable new personalities, athletes and celebrities like Naomi Osaka, Cameron Newton, Steve Aoki and Chase Coleman.

One of a handful of companies to raise Series A, B and C in a single year, Daring is quickly establishing its leadership within the burgeoning plant-based chicken movement. The brand has raised more than $120M in total funding, with earlier investors like Maveron, Palm Tree Crew (legendary DJ and producer Kygo) and Drake. Since being founded in 2018 by CEO Ross Mackay (Forbes 30 Under 302021), Daring has continued to draw support from prominent investors, including some of the world’s largest global celebrities, and a growing number of restaurant and retail partners, demonstrating widespread confidence in Daring as the future of plant-based chicken.

Further supporting their mission of removing chicken from the global food system and providing more accessible and healthful plant-based alternatives, Daring hits the frozen aisle this month in 3,000 Walmart locations, one of the country’s biggest meat sellers. The brand’s expansion into Walmart doubles its distribution to 6,000 doors nationwide. Walmart is the latest national retailer to carry Daring, joining others like Whole Foods, Sprouts and Kroger, in addition to online markets like Gopuff and Imperfect Foods and a growing list of restaurants nationwide.
