Fat Joe and Krasdale Foods Host Fourth Annual Thanksgiving Grocery Giveaway in NYC

Krasdale Foods and legendary Bronx-native rapper Fat Joe joined forces to help soften the impact of grocery shopping for thousands of families ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday. Across all three of the rapper’s UPNYC retail store locations, Fat Joe and Krasdale handed out a total of 3,000 grocery bags filled with Thanksgiving essentials such as stuffing, chicken bouillon, rice, beans, cranberries and canned vegetables. The groceries were provided by Krasdale’s distribution center in Hunts Point, totaling more than $85,000.

“Makes me feel phenomenal,” said John Borzumato, Krasdale’s Corporate Director of New Business Development. “I’m so happy to help and support the community that supports us too, it’s a pleasure and a privilege to give back and to partner with Fat Joe who is a mainstay of the Bronx.”

This Thanksgiving giveaway has become a local tradition for not only Fat Joe and Krasdale, but the Bronx’s elected officials as well. Bronx Borough President, Vanessa L. Gibson joined Krasdale and UPNYC employees to hand out the grocery-stuffed bags to her community, for the second year in a row.

“It’s an honor to plan an event like this every year with Fat Joe’s team,” said Jenn Carson, Krasdale’s Director of Marketing. “Krasdale employees work extremely hard to make this event a success, from our warehouse team that packs up all the cases of food and delivers it to UPNYC stores, to our corporate team that volunteers to pack all the grocery bags the night before this event. We truly put our all into giving back to our community and we’re so happy to help those who need it and share a little extra holiday spirit.”
