Giant Eagle to Open Second Curbside Pickup and Delivery-Only Store

Giant Eagle is set to open another curbside pickup and delivery only store in Garfield Heights, OH. Local media reports the chain opened the first such store in Cuyahoga Falls last week, which increased its capacity to fill online orders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Garfield Heights location reportedly stopped servicing in-store customers last Saturday, April 18. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported the company was hiring more shoppers as it also increased ordering slots by 1,000 weekly.

Grocery Dive reports this ‘dark store’ strategy is also being tested by Kroger.
