Gorillas starts the new year by strengthening its leadership team with another high-profile addition. As of today, Luanne Calvert will serve as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and will be based in Berlin. With more than 20 years of marketing and advertising experience, serving in multiple boards in the tech, retail and fast-growth sectors, Calvert will lead the global marketing team at Gorillas elevating the company’s brand to a new level.
Since the company’s founding in 2020, Gorillas has established a unique, globally renowned brand in the fast grocery delivery sector. Now, the organization wants to intensify its marketing activities and further shape Gorillas towards an internationally recognized brand that truly reflects the company’s exceptional customer experience and unique story.
With Luanne Calvert Gorillas has hired a highly experienced professional with deep knowledge of the industry to take up this task. Having helped to build some of the world’s leading brands such as Virgin and Google where she held executive roles, Luanne Calvert knows how to establish distinctive brands at the intersection of technology, innovation and lifestyle.
Moreover, the marketing expert is well acquainted with the retail sector and has held global positions at companies from Walmart to LVMH’s Fendi brand and Moleskine. Having founded her own start-up, Mixed Marketing, with blue-chip clients such as Netflix, eBay, Calvin Klein and Yahoo!, Calvert also embodies the entrepreneurial spirit of Gorillas.
“I became a fan of the company when I tried Gorillas for the first time. Beyond the incredible service, I was impressed with Gorillas’ mission to provide consumers instant access to essential needs. This unique experience is what I want to build upon to create a love brand that stands for how we live and consume food in the 21st century. It’s truly inspiring to be part of a company that has the ability to change that equation at scale – and delight customers along the way,” explained Luanne Calvert.
In her new role as CMO of Gorillas, Calvert will be heading the global marketing team and be part of the management board. Hence, she will report directly to the founder and CEO, Kağan Sümer.
“Luanne has shown countless times how to create and develop successful brands in fast-growth sectors through innovative ideas. Her boldness and courage to try new things reflect the spirit of Gorillas in the best way. This mindset paired with her incredible experience in the tech, retail and start-up field is what makes Luanne the perfect fit to further develop our brand and customer experience,” said Kağan Sümer.
