Industry Vet Sue Klug joins Gelson’s Board
Sue Klug, currently serving as evp and CMO for Republic Services, a $10 billion recycling and non-hazardous solid waste disposal company, has recently joined Gelson’s Markets board of directors.
“Her savvy marketing and operations experiences in wholesale grocery, supermarket retailing, and waste & recycling services will bring valuable insight to Gelson’s, and we are grateful to have her onboard,” said Rob McDougall, CEO of Gelson’s.
Klug’s previous experience include her service at Unified Grocers from 2012 to 2016 as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, making her an admirable choice for Gelson’s evp position. She also spent nearly a decade with Albertsons, including five years as president of Albertsons Southern California division, where she was responsible for the operations and financial performances of all 248 Albertsons stores in California and Nevada.
A Southern California native, Klug brings a deep understanding of the competitive California grocery sector to Gelson’s. She has an extensive relationship throughout the grocery industry and is recognized as one of the its premiere female leaders.
