On Monday March 5, Albertsons Companies announced Jim Donald, the former Starbucks CEO and President has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Albertsons Companies, effective immediately. He will overlook the operations of the retailers’ 2,300+ store portfolio and help accelerate the company’s growing omni-channel platform.
Donald replaces Wayne Denningham, who retired earlier this year. Susan Morris, who was named evp and COO in January 2018, will continue in her role. Donald has previously held senior leadership roles at Albertsons and Safeway as well as served on the Board of Directors for Rite Aid.
“Jim Donald has built an exceptional career in retail. His knowledge of our company and industry is unmatched, and I know his contributions will be invaluable as we enter the next chapter of Albertsons Companies,” said Bob Miller, Albertsons Companies Chairman and CEO.
