Kaizen’s Brand Evolution Signals the Future of Functional Comfort Food
The refreshed brand launches at Wegmans, bringing the lineup of high-protein staples to more shelves nationwide
Kaizen, the leading high-protein, low-carb comfort food brand redefining modern pantry staples, launches a product-wide vibrant rebrand designed to better reflect its mission: bringing comfort and function together, without compromise. The new branding is Kaizen’s latest move into its next phase of growth, coinciding with the brand’s rice launch in Wegmans nationwide.
Founded by Arash Hashemi, the culinary personality, content creator and New York Times’ best-selling author behind @shredhappens (over 9M followers across all platforms) and wife Madalina Defta, in 2020, the duo set out to create food that is both comforting and functional in both its use (high-protein, low-carb) and taste, starting with pasta. Born from a deeply personal health journey, as Arash lost more than 100 pounds and documented his journey online, Madalina and Arash saw how many people felt forced to choose between the foods they loved and their health goals.
Each Kaizen product is powered by lupini beans, a nutrient-dense super legume, naturally high in protein, fiber and sustainability benefits. Made in the U.S. and certified Gluten Free, Kosher and Non-GMO Project Verified, Kaizen products contain up to 85 percent fewer carbs, more than 10 grams of fiber and up to three times more protein than traditional pasta and rice — proving that indulgence and performance no longer have to be opposites.
The full product lineup includes:
- Low Carb Pasta – Available in five different shapes: Fusilli, Cavatappi, Radiatori, Lumache and Ziti)
- Low Carb Rice (launching in Wegmans) – Available in three different flavors: Classic, Spanish and Mediterranean
- Low Carb Mac and Cheese – Available in three different flavors: Cheddar, White Cheddar and Spicy Buffalo Ranch
- Lupin Flour – Made with 100 percent Australian Lupini beans, Lupin Flour has 12 grams of protein and 1 net carb per serving. A great source of plant protein, the flour can be used in conjunction with traditional flour to make higher protein, lower carb foods, including homemade Banana Walnut Muffins, Keto Biscuits and more. Lupin Flour is Gluten-Free and grain-free, kosher certified and packaged in the US.
“My journey started with discipline, but it became sustainable when I stopped eliminating the foods I loved and started upgrading them instead,” said Arash Hashemi, cofounder. “Performance isn’t about extremes, it’s about giving your body the fuel it needs to show up stronger every day. Kaizen is personal to me because it proves you don’t have to choose between comfort and results. The messages we receive every day from people who feel empowered and back in control of their health show us this is bigger than a product, it’s a new standard for how we fuel our lives.”
“This rebrand isn’t just about a new look, it’s about removing friction and preparing the brand for scale,” said Madalina Defta, cofounder. “Our customers believe comfort and wellbeing belong together, and it was our responsibility to make that value unmistakable on shelf and online. The new packaging strengthens how we show up in retail while telling a bigger story: one of inclusion, empowerment and putting comfort back on the table.”Kaizen Foods is available for purchase on kaizenfoodcompany.com or Amazon.com and at Thrive Market, iHerb, Adronico’s and expanding to thousands of additional retailers across the US this year, starting with Wegmans.
