Mariano’s Founder to Open New Chicago-area Grocery Chain
Supermarket industry executive Bob Mariano is working on a new grocery store chain in the Chicago area to be called Dom’s Market & Kitchen that will carry specialty items, prepared foods and meal kits.
Grocery Dive reports Mariano, who created the Mariano’s grocery brand which is now owned by Kroger, aims to open the first location in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood in March 2021. His partners include Jay Owen and former Mariano’s executive Don Fitzgerald.
Discussion on RetailWire has centered around the changes in the grocery landscape caused by the current pandemic and how Mariano’s plans for open food prep areas, wine tasting and dine-in areas might be affected.
