Old Bridge Gets New ShopRite with State-of-the-Art Store and Inspired Shopping Experience

ShopRite today announced the opening of its newest full-service store, located in the Glenwood Green Shopping Plaza at the intersection of Rt. 9 and Schulmeister Road in Old Bridge, NJ, will take place on Sunday, March 17 with a community celebration and ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. The much-anticipated state-of-the-art supermarket will replace the existing ShopRite of Old Bridge and the grand opening will include storewide sampling stations, face painting, raffles, a DJ, Irish step dancers and a bagpiper to mark St. Patrick’s Day.

Store doors open at 8 a.m. and the first 200 customers in line will get a special swag bag, free coffee and pastries. A graffiti artist will also be on site to customize hats and shirts along with a caricature artist for drawings of customers. The community is invited to celebrate a store that incorporates their suggestions, including 24-hour service and a café with a name – the Knight’s Loft – that was inspired by Old Bridge High School athletic teams.

Encompassing more than 80,000 square feet, the new ShopRite of Old Bridge offers customers a curated, elevated shopping experience that is unmatched in the area. Expert butchers and fishmongers will staff the meat and seafood counters and an expanded produce department will boast a colorful bounty of organics, fresh cut fruit and vegetables and specialty grapes and berries. Customers will also find chef prepared grab-and-go options including hand-rolled sushi, gourmet meals and sandwiches, a Shuk Kosher kitchen and prepared meals, more than 600 varieties of cheeses and specialty soup and coffee bars that incorporate the popular Gourmet Garage and Fairway Market brands. The store also includes a pharmacy.

ShopRite surveyed local residents for feedback on what they wanted in the new store. Those responses played an important role in the overall design and product selection. The ShopRite of Old Bridge also hosted an online naming contest for the café, with many people suggesting the Knights as a tribute to the local high school.

“It was important to us that the community be part of the planning and Old Bridge residents told us they wanted premium quality and inspiration,” said Perry Blatt, director of E-Commerce and Business Development for Village Super Market, Inc., the family-run business that owns and operates the new store. “We offer all the value and variety of ShopRite with lots of special surprises we believe customers will love.”

Specialty features include:
• Ruby Foo’s Asian Fusion meals & sushi (reminiscent of the NYC restaurant)
