Partake Allergy-Friendly Food Startup Launches at Target Nationwide

Partake, the vegan and allergy-friendly food start-up, backed by JAY-Z’s Marcy Venture Partners, a VC fund that invests in consumer-focused startups, will launch nationwide at more than 1,600 Target stores today, Monday, May 11. The cookie company, much like Target’s own Good & Gather, is targeted at kids and health-conscious individuals.

Launched by CEO and Founder Denise Woodard after her daughter was diagnosed with serious food allergies, Partake is the only black and female-owned food startup to ever raise more than $1 million.

The Target launch also coincides with “Food Allergy Awareness Month” in the month of May. Food allergies affect 1 in 13 children or roughly two children per classroom. The top food allergens come from eight sources: cow’s milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soybeans and wheat – all of which Partake cookies are free-from.

The Target partnership and expansion into Sprouts, The Fresh Market and additional Whole Foods Market regions across the US will place Partake in more than 2,700 stores by 2020.
