Peter Pan Seafood Signs Letter of Intent for Asset Purchase of Trapper’s Creek Seafood Co.

Peter Pan Seafood has signed a letter of intent for an asset purchase of Trapper’s Creek Smoking Co. including a smokehouse facility in Anchorage and its brands: Copper River Smoking Company, Alaska’s Best, Trapper’s Creek and Eat Like a Grizzly. Peter Pan leadership looks to expand with the addition of smoking capabilities and the growth of its footprint in Alaska.

Peter Pan came under new ownership in 2021, bringing the company back under US and Alaska ownership and becoming a vertically integrated seafood company with a focus on value-added sales channels.

“We are committed to creating jobs in Alaska and in the US, and this is another example of that commitment,” Peter Pan Chief Growth Officer Rodger May said. “We will bring our strong commitment to key stakeholders including employees, customers, fleet, suppliers, business partners and communities for both companies.”

Peter Pan leadership is eager to bring its processing and industry innovation to the brands of Trapper’s Creek and Copper River Smoking Co., an award-winning company that has been in the smoked salmon business for more than 30 years. Peter Pan also brings its strong commitment to key stakeholders, including employees, customers, fleet, suppliers, business partners and communities for both companies.

“We are very proud to add these brands, including the Copper River brand, to the Peter Pan Seafood portfolio,” Peter Pan CEO Kevin Bixler said. “This will fuel our continued growth in new channels and value-added products.”

Trapper’s Creek Smoking Co.’s current owner Andi Wahry will stay on in an advisory role to ensure a smooth transition.

“I’ve always envisioned a long and successful path for this company,” Wahry said. “I’m excited to see how the brand will thrive with Peter Pan at the helm.”
