Planters’ Mr. Peanut Marks Move to Hormel Foods with $100,000 Giveaway

The MR. PEANUT character is packing his bags and preparing for his big move to his new home at Hormel Foods in Minnesota. To celebrate his move to the land of 10,000 lakes, the legume is giving away 10 checks worth $10,000 each to reward Little Acts of Substance in his new home state this summer.

The MR. PEANUT character identified five local Minnesota charities and five Minnesotans who add substance to their communities and make their neighbors’ days a little better and is rewarding them with funds to continue their good work.

“Hormel Foods is excited to welcome the PLANTERS brand to the great state of Minnesota where it joins our other iconic brands including SKIPPY and SPAM,” said Jeff Frank, VP of Grocery Products at Hormel Foods. “Throughout the summer, we invite Minnesotans to help us welcome the 116-year-old snack brand, experience the 26-foot-long NUTMOBILE vehicle and meet the iconic MR. PEANUT character!”

The MR. PEANUT character will also award a $10,000 donation to Cedar Valley, a charity local to Austin, MN, that helps individuals with disabilities with employment, residential services and social programs through meaningful activities. The spirit of giving and recognizing local charities and Minnesotans will continue throughout the MR. PEANUT character’s summer in Minnesota as he tours the state with the NUTMOBILE vehicle.

Throughout the summer, fans can request to have the NUTMOBILE vehicle tour stop at their events, such as youth sporting events, neighborhood block parties, 5K races and other summer fun activities by submitting a request.
