Rawhide Recalls from Waggin’ Train & Milo’s Kitchen

Two major pet companies, Nestle Purina PetCare Co. and Del Monte Foods, have begun nationwide recalls of dog treats in the past week.

Traces of antibiotics not approved in the United States were found in several lots of Purina’s Waggin’ Train and Canyon Creek Ranch chicken jerky products, as well as Del Monte’s Milo’s Kitchen line of chicken jerky and chicken grillers.

Purina and Del Monte issued voluntary recalls of their pet treats last week following the New York Department of Agriculture and Markets finding trace amounts of antibiotics in samples of the products.

The dog treats were manufactured in China, where the antibiotics are approved for use.

Del Monte’s Rob Liebowitz said the products pose no known health risk to pets. No other Purina or Del Monte pet products were affected by the recall.
