South Mill Champs, a leading mushroom growing company, launched a new mushroom-based snack called Shroom Snacks earlier this year. The brand aims to provide a delicious, better-for-you snack using mushrooms, grown and hand-picked on South Mill farms.
“We saw an opportunity to create something new and authentic using our 80 years of mushroom growing experience,” said David Eberwein, director of innovation and business development, in reports.
“As the popularity of plant-based snacking continues to rise, we started thinking about ways to reinvent the mushroom to create convenient, better-for-you snacks that taste amazing and use the fresh, whole mushrooms we’re growing and farming every day,” Eberwein added.
The company is releasing four product lines combined with 14 flavors:
- Shrooms Crispy Mushroomsmade from fresh, thick-cut mushrooms available in Sea Salt, Spicy Jalapeno, Mesquite Barbeque, Pizza and Original Portabella.
- Shrooms Mushroom Jerkymade from tender shiitake and meaty portabella mushroom caps available in Honey Chipotle Shiitake, Roasted Teriyaki Portabella and Original Portabella.
- Shrooms Splits Jerky marinated mushroom jerky made from meaty portabella caps available in a variety of flavors: Turkey, Berries, Filet Mignon and Peppered Beef, which are made from grass-fed, USA-bred beef.
- Shrooms Snack Bar an allergy-friendly bar made from simple, wholesome ingredients is available in Crispy Mushroom Chocolate Chunk and Crispy Mushroom Sweet & Savory.
“After much development, we’ve created a line of snack products that are unlike anything else on shelves today, and we’re excited to bring them to mushroom lovers everywhere,” Eberwein added.
