Sweet Season Shaping Up for Chile Cherries

Strong Crop Predicted for Cherry Imports; Shipping Begins in mid-November

Honeybear Brands, a leading grower, marketer and developer of premium conventional and organic apples, pears and cherries, announced it is shipping cherries from Chile to meet the holiday and winter shopping demand for the popular fruit.

“Honeybear is a leading importer of cherries into USA and has been for more than 8 years.

We’ve had a near perfect growing season in Chile, which will pay off in a record cherry crop. This means retailers will be able to offer high quality, fresh cherries throughout the winter months,” said Chuck Sinks, President of Sales and Marketing, Honeybear Brands. “A strong import program means shoppers will continue to shop cherries during the domestic cherry season.”

Harvest has begun, with the first cherries expected at retail in mid-November. Honeybear Brands imports cherries on both coasts, in Washington state and Philadelphia. This allows the company to co-load cherries with its domestic apple programs leveraging its freight division and multiple shipping points. This means Honeybear Brands can offer the lowest landed cost programs with retailers.
