Target’s New Technology Helps Explore Faster and More Efficient Delivery

Target is planning to acquire technology from Deliv, a startup that focuses on last mile batched delivery. As more and more guests are getting what they need through online orders, the proprietary last mile platform Target is buying from Deliv will help explore new ways to deliver packages even quicker while lowering shipping costs. Additionally, it’ll continue to put Target stores at the center of its strategy to fulfill digital orders.

Along with Target’s strong partnerships with carriers, this new technology will open up new possibilities. Some members of the Deliv team—including CEO Daphne Carmeli—will have the opportunity to join Target as it researches and develops how to use this technology in the future.

“Our game-changing fulfillment services—like Order Pickup, Drive Up and Shipt—have already made same-day delivery and pickup possible for millions of guests,” said Arthur Valdez, Target’s evp and chief supply chain & logistics officer. “This technology from Deliv is just one more example of how Target is investing for the future of local delivery.”
