Tesco’s Simon Belsham to lead Jet.com

On March 26, Walmart-owned Jet.com announced the appointment of Simon Belsham as president with immediate effect. Belsham has spent seven years with UK retailer Tesco and drove the company’s online operations.

According to a memo sent to employees by Walmart’s e-commerce CEO Marc Lore, Belsham will be responsible for expanding the company’s online grocery business. The move comes at a significant time as Walmart strengthens its online grocery business to compete with Amazon.

“There are so many ways technology can change retail and be a force for good in our lives,” Belsham said in a statement. “In my view, there is no business better positioned to take advantage of the opportunity ahead than the combination of Walmart and Jet,” he added.

Belsham will replace Liza Landsman, who will leave Jet.com to join a venture capital firm.
