The Fresh Market appoints Oded Shein as CFO

On Aug. 9, The Fresh Market appointed Oded Shein as its Chief Financial Officer. As a member of the leadership team, Shein will help lead the organization to execute its corporate growth strategy. The news follows a July 2018 announcement by the company that said it would close 15 locations across nine states following an “analysis of long-term growth”.

“Oded will be an essential contributor to the strategic direction of the company and ensure that the organization is aligned with our business objectives,” said CEO Larry Appel. “The combination of Oded’s broad business experience and deep finance expertise will enable The Fresh Market to solidify our position in the marketplace as a unique, specialty retailer.”

Shein has more than 25 years of financial experience in the retail business. He was previously evp and CFO of Stage Stores—a Houston-based retailer. He has also held senior financial leadership positions at Belk and Charming Shoppes.

Shein has a BBA in Information Systems from Baruch College and an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School.
