Upton’s Naturals Introduces New 100 percent Vegan Kosher “Beef” Hot Dog

Upton’s Naturals is bringing to market the first 100 percent vegan version of an all-beef hot dog: The Updog.

Smoky, savory and complete with classic hot dog “snap,” this plant-based frank is made from versatile, wheat-gluten seitan and simple, quality ingredients. Its interior texture is a middle ground between some seitan links that are too hard and many soy-based veggie dogs that are too soft, but what really sets it apart is the product’s innovative algae-based coating and unique curing process. Inspired by Chicago’s famous kosher beef dogs, it’s seasoned with Windy City favorites like yellow mustard seed and onion powder. This grill-worthy vegan hot dog, which also serves as a convenient, weeknight meal solution, packs in an excellent source of protein (20g per serving) and a good source of iron and potassium. It’s Non-GMO Certified (NSF), Kosher Certified (CRC), Plant Based Certified, plus completely free of cholesterol, trans fat, added sugars and artificial flavors.

Upton’s Naturals Updog is available for retailers nationwide to carry for an SRP of $5.99 for a 10oz package of four links. Whole Foods Market locations nationwide will carry the product starting this April, and it’s currently sold at select Target and Wegmans stores across the country, plus online here.
