On March 15, The Fresh Market announced it had appointed Vic Savanello as its Vice President of Merchandising, Produce. His responsibilities will include overseeing the management of the grocer’s fresh produce departments across all 176 stores in 24 states.
Savanello is an industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience in the business, specifically in the fresh produce section. Prior to his appointment, he was Senior Director for Produce and Floral at Allegiance Retail Services/Foodtown Supermarkets, based in New Jersey. He has more than 22 years of experience working with Wakefern Food in the roles of expeditor, analyst, buyer and category manager. Savanello began working in the business at the age of 16 at a ShopRite in North Jersey.

Savanello puts his vast industry knowledge to use through volunteer roles. He is currently the President of the Eastern Produce Council and Chairman of the New York Produce Show and Conference.
