Walmart Chief Merchandising Officer Plans to Depart

After 32 years with the retailer, Walmart’s Chief Merchandising Officer, Charles Redfield, is said to leave the company.

Walmart’s President and CEO John Furner sent employees a memo on Friday via email, sharing the news of Redfield’s departure, citing his decision to spend more time with his family.

According to the memo, Redfield will transition into an advisory role, and will officially leave in June. The memo also discussed the company has yet to share the news on who will be named the next Chief Merchandising Officer.

Redfield started at Sam’s Club as a cashier, and went on to hold several leadership positions throughout his time with the retailer. In 2010, he began Chief Merchandising Officer in the UK, and later became the evp in the US. He was later named Chief Merchandising Officer in the US in 2022.
