Walmart to add 500 Fedex offices within stores
On March 20, Walmart announced plans to add 500 new Fedex offices within store locations across the US during the next two years. The retail giant and Fedex have been working on a pilot project in 47 Walmart locations where customers were given the choice of packing, shipping and printing items, as well as having their packages held for up to five business days.
“Our busy customers view our stores as a one-stop-shop for all the products and services they are looking for,” Daniel Eckert, Walmart’s senior vice president of services and digital acceleration, said in a statement.
Walmart is looking at leveraging its retail locations and turning them into one-stop-shops for busy customers in a bid to compete with Amazon, which lacks as many physical locations as Walmart does.
