Wegmans Astor Place to Open Wednesday, October 18, 2023

For Store Manager Matt Dailor, opening a Wegmans Food Market in the historic district of lower Manhattan has been an exciting adventure. The 87,500 sq. ft. store, located at 770 Broadway, will open at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18.

“We know our customers can’t wait to come see what we have in store and our employees have been training, in some cases, for over a year to get ready for this day,” said Dailor. “Wegmans is a celebration of food and people, and we can’t wait to open the doors on October 18 to our community here in the east village.”

More than 600 newly hired employees will help create a one-of-a-kind shopping experience in the store’s warm and welcoming atmosphere that reflects the original architecture of the historic Wannamaker building.

Our extensive restaurant foods selections, prepared by Executive Chef David Lopatynski and his culinary staff, include fresh sushi, fresh-made salads, sandwiches, hot sandwiches, soups, pizza and wings, as well as hot Asian cuisine options. Our ready-to-eat and ready-to-heat options feature a wide selection of entrees and sides for both individuals and families. We will also offer made-to-order and packaged Mezze options, inspired by a Mediterranean diet. Customers can shop in store or use our Wegmans meals2GO app to order and customize many of these items for pick up or delivery.

Customers can also visit Wegmans to download the Wegmans store app and create an online account, which offers recipes, digital coupons and the ability to create shopping lists sorted by aisle.

The onsite dining room, featuring a Sushi Bar and Champagne-Oyster Bar at Astor Place, will be opening in the first half of 2024. The Astor Place store will be the second in New York City following the 2019 opening of Wegmans Brooklyn.
