Category Leadership Awards: Pierogies
The pierogi category is experiencing growth, with the global dumpling market projected to reach $5.82 billion by 2026. Pierogi leaders are embracing this trend with new products and strategies.
Jaju Pierogi launched gluten-free potato and cheese pierogies this year. “It’s our classic pierogi made with rice flour as a wheat alternative. We are excited that we cracked the code with the dough and our product. We’ve heard from so many consumers who have Celiac disease or have gluten sensitivities how excited they are,” Casey White, CEO of Jaju Pierogi, reported.
Jaju’s bright, eye-catching red bags stand out at retailers. “As a company, we really try to understand the customer and be thoughtful about how we market. We are offering larger bags and now smaller pack sizes as well. We are not emotional about getting into every store. Instead, we lean into the data to understand what’s the right fit—what store, what SKUs, and what demographics. We want to reach someone who prioritizes convenience and wants a high-quality meal. Parents, kids, families, or someone who works and doesn’t want to think about dinner.”
“We’ve really shifted into execution around one core idea: mealtime made easy. That means understanding what value truly means to consumers today—not just price, but time saved, versatility, and feeding a family easily,” shared Director of Marketing for Mrs. T’s Pierogies, Alyssa Panzarella.
Panzarella continued, “The biggest challenge right now is really about winning share of stomach in a very competitive environment. Consumers are more value-conscious than ever, but value means more than just price—it’s quality, convenience, and feeding a family efficiently. At the same time, the frozen aisle is evolving quickly, with restaurant-quality options, global flavors, and high-protein innovation all competing for attention.”
Mrs. T’s Pierogies offers a variety of flavors and sizes to meet consumers’ taste buds. All flavors are vegetarian except the loaded baked potato and mini cheddar seasoned with bacon. “Health needs continue to evolve—it’s not one-size-fits-all,” noted Panzarella. “While some consumers are focused on ingredients, others prioritize comfort, convenience, and balance. Our approach is to focus on consistent quality, while always looking toward future innovations to solve for our consumers’ needs.”
Kasia’s Deli pierogies are award-winning. They’ve won the “Best Pierogi in Chicago” award at the Taste of Chicago festival and earned mentions from Newsweek, National Geographic Traveler, and the publication 1,000 Foods to Eat Before You Die. Newsweek Magazine said that Kasia’s “produces exquisite food with the finest ingredients and [comfort food that has] transcended ethnic orientation.”
But the brand also knows how to put its product into more customers’ hands and stomachs. The company has been busy this summer with a Costco roadshow where they served its award-winning pierogies.
