PLMA Hosts Professional Development Program on Packaging Strategies

The Private Label Manufacturers Association’s Lunch & Learn program on April 28 at 12:30 p.m. EDT features several experts to cover the topic of how packaging sells private label, providing tips on improving package design so your retailer brand product can compete visually and tactilely with other brands across all shopping formats.

Insights provided will come from a shopper study conducted across Europe and the US by multi-disciplinary design agency Tjarks & Tjarks that focused on packaging styles, font sizes, colors and claims on own brand packaging.

The lunch and learn will have two presenters: Sam Mayberry, currently President of Sam Mayberry Consulting, who as VP of Private Brands for Supervalu, oversaw the launch of Essential Everyday and brand refreshes for Wild Harvest, Baby Basics, Super Crunch and Shoppers Value. He was also on the leadership team that launched Amazon’s Wickedly Prime. Sam will discuss packaging considerations for brick and mortar and online retailers.

Joining him will be Dr. Steen Tjarks, President of Tjarks and Tjarks Graphic Design, an international company specializing in private label brand and package development, who will discuss the results of the study that focused on packaging and what motivates shoppers to buy. Dr. Tjarks is a behavioral scientist who specializes in consumer and pricing strategies. He holds a PhD from University College, London, England and studied disruptive business strategies at The Harvard Business School.

This professional development program is free for all PLMA member manufacturers, brokers and suppliers as well as retailers and wholesalers. Register for the event here.
