Tops Provides Ample Options for Vermont Residents as Plastic Bag Ban Approaches

As Vermont residents gear up for the pending plastic bag ban slated to take effect on Wednesday, July 1, Tops Friendly Markets locations across the state are well prepared to meet the new state regulations with a wide variety of options for its customers. From reusable bags starting at just .99 cents, Thermal bags for cold products, and bags that can be reused up to 125 times to traditional paper bags for just 10 cents, customers can select the option that best fits their lifestyle.

“At Tops, social responsibility and sustainability have always been at the core of the company’s mission, so reducing the carbon footprint by eliminating the use of single use plastic bags only strengthens the impact of what we’re trying to achieve as a company,” said Kathy Sautter, Public and Media Relations Manager for Tops Friendly Markets.

Annually Tops recycles more than 654 tons of plastic bags and film. Tops’ ongoing commitment to sustainability is met with enthusiasm and resolve every day, as we work to ensure we leave our communities-and our planet-better for the next generations.
