Upton’s Naturals Compares Jackfruit and Banana Blosson

Jackfruit and banana blossom both provide a nutrient-dense, whole food vs. high tech solution to plant-based meat, but what they most successfully mimic is not the same. While young jackfruit serves as a delicious stand-in for pulled pork and shredded chicken, the Banana Blossom, which grows at the end of a banana bunch, possesses the texture of flaky fish and is a spot-on seafood substitute for cooking plant-based fish & chips. While there are some exceptions to this, like using shredded jackfruit for vegan tuna fish, this division is how the two best shine.

The ethical vegan company brought the first pre-seasoned, heat-and-eat Jackfruit to market and has introduced Banana Blossom in a pouch, helping make these versatile Southeast Asian ingredients easier to work with and accessible to home-cooks across the country.
