Weis launches Great Grape Event
Weis Markets has launched its second annual Great Grape Event, which offers customers a variety of 15+ grapes that are grown throughout California and the South. The program, which will run throughout the month of September, features a variety of grapes that are hard to find in some supermarkets.
“The typical American supermarket sells five varieties of grapes, but since it’s the best time of year for grapes, we have decided to offer our customers increased variety, including Sweet Sapphires, Razzles, Dazzles and Scuppernongs,” said Weis Markets Director of Produce Kevin Weaver. “These are some of the best grapes you never tasted.”
During the Great Grape Event of 2022, Weis Markets will be featuring the following types of grapes in their produce department, along with red, green and black seedless grapes.
- Razzle Red seedless grapes: From California’s San Joaquin Valley, these grapes taste just like candy.
- Dazzle Green seedless grapes: Grown in California, these grapes have a high sugar content which helps enhance their flavor.
- Kissy Pop grapes: A sweet, red seedless grape, they’re similar to Cotton Candy grapes with a lighter flavor.
- Candy Snap grapes: A dark red grape with a fruity, sweet and tart taste.
- Black Seedless grapes: With a signature deep, velvety color and sweet, juicy flavor, these grapes are packed with antioxidants.
- Concord grapes: Named after the Massachusetts town where they were first grown, Concord grapes are great for snacking, pies, jelly and more.
- Red Globe grapes: These sweet, tangy grapes are packed with nutrients to improve skin and hair health, as well as antioxidants.
- Muscadine/Scuppernong grapes: Native to the southern United States, these grapes usually have a bronze or greenish color and are similar in appearance to a white grape. They’re larger than most types of grapes and have a tart flavor.
- Candy Heart grapes: The first cousin of Cotton Candy grapes, these have a rich flavor with hints of caramel.
- Candy Dream grapes: A black seedless grape that carries a deep, jammy flavor.
- Sweet Sapphire grapes: Usually grown in Australia, this sweet, seedless grape has a unique shape and green, translucent flesh.
