Whole Foods Market to Phase Out Live-Shackle Slaughter

According to media reports, Whole Foods Market may become the first major US retailer to phase out live-shackle slaughter across its major chicken suppliers. The commitment to phasing out the practice is expected to be concluded by all of its 487 US locations by 2026, which is said to spare tens of millions of chickens from a brutal end.

Officials report that Whole Foods Market is now the first national US retailer to adopt all standards of the Better Chicken Commitment.
